The International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed on 26th June, 2012 at Sathy Sai auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. By Vindhya Vatsyayan Addressing the gathering, Shri Mukul Wasnik,the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment said, "In order to create awareness, the Ministry is launching a major awareness campaign by using the mobile sms, print media, electronic media etc. so as to reach maximum people." In his speech, the Chief Guest Sh. Ajay Maken, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, said, "The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has introduced mandatory doping test in all national, state and university level sports competition." Highlighting the increasing use of drugs among sportsmen, Shri Maken said, during a recent drill by National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), several school children were found using banned performance enhancement substances.
