What happens when future social workers begin to see prevention not as someone else’s responsibility, but as their own? A conversation in Amritsar brought together students, practitioners and young health advocates to explore addiction, tobacco, e-cigarettes , environmental protection and the changing role of social work. A Q&A session on 'social inclusion of alcohol & drug using population and people living with NCDs'  was conducted   with more than 100 amazing young students of Social Work and NAPSWI members by Suneel Vatsyayan at the  6th Indian Social work Congress.  The 6th Congress was  organised by the  National Association of Professional Social Workers in India #NAPSWI and Delhi School of Social Work, University of Delhi. KOZHIKODE: Alcohol is proving to be a key factor behind the murder cases being reported in the district. Police said of the total number of six murder cases reported in four months this year, five were committed under the influence of alcohol. Many other incidents in which intoxicated persons engage in arguments and manhandling were also reported. Influence of drugs and tobacco products are also pointed out as the major reason for clash between migrant labourers and locals. "The persons, under the influence of alcohol fail to realize the consequence of their action. Persons lose their reasoning skills and ability to control their emotions once they come under the influence of drugs and alcohol," said a police official. The latest of the murder cases involving liquor as villain was reported in Kozhikode rural police station limit on April 27. Centre planning national alcohol policy New Delhi, Nov 29, 2013, DHNS: The Union Health Ministry plans to come out with a national alcohol policy to suggest ways and means of reducing harm caused by alcohol as India is all set to adopt a voluntary target of reducing alcohol consumption due to its adverse public health consequences. The policy being framed by the ministry may suggest how the consumption of alcohol can be brought down by 5 per cent by 2020 and by an additional five per cent by 2025. It would emphasise on public health impacts of alcohol use and how it adds to India’s non-communicable disease burden. Currently, alcohol comes under the purview of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment that looks into its societal impact. Ms.Pallavi applied  Gold plated magnetic beads on counselors or  for well being.   The two days training workshop for family counselors and functionaries of NGOs was held at Guest house of Delhi University on 13th March 2013.The workshop was organised by department of social work Delhi University and funded by Central Social Welfare Board  . The participating family counselors were from Delhi, Utterachal,Himachal and Punjab. The problem alcoholism and role of counselors and acudetox counseling was discussed .
