KOZHIKODE: Alcohol is proving to be a key factor behind the murder cases being reported in the district. Police said of the total number of six murder cases reported in four months this year, five were committed under the influence of alcohol. Many other incidents in which intoxicated persons engage in arguments and manhandling were also reported. Influence of drugs and tobacco products are also pointed out as the major reason for clash between migrant labourers and locals. "The persons, under the influence of alcohol fail to realize the consequence of their action. Persons lose their reasoning skills and ability to control their emotions once they come under the influence of drugs and alcohol," said a police official.
