We have to change the Narrative.... Elder Abuse: Dr. Abbas Nada India Good Health Ambassador

  Elder abuse can be defined as "a single, or repeated act, or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust which causes harm or distress to an older person". Elder abuse can take various forms such as financial, physical, psychological and sexual. It can also be the result of intentional or unintentional neglect. Based on available evidence, WHO estimates that 15.7% of people 60 years and older are subjected to abuse. These prevalence rates are likely to be underestimates as many cases of elder abuse are not reported. Globally the numbers of people affected are predicted to increase as many countries are experiencing rapidly ageing populations. Read more

Liquor trade and consumption is not a fundamental right, but a privilege....

  The Delhi government filed this reply against a batch of petitions challenging its 4 May notification levying 70% special corona fees on liquor in the capital. The plea is likely to be heard on Friday. Liquor trade and consumption is not a fundamental right, but a privilege and the state has the authority to regulate its trade, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government told the Delhi high court on Thursday. In response to a batch of petitions challenging its 4 May notification to levy a "special corona fee’’ on liquor, the Delhi government in its affidavit added that it was free to accord or regulate liquor prices as per the state excise law.
