A month to retain, forever! -Bhishm Wahi, Nada Volunteer

It has been a roller-coaster ride from nowhere to reaching height of my goals. Initially, being a shy boy lacking a leadership quality to transform into a new level of upbringing which not only developed beautiful perspective into my life but also inculcated the feeling of grown up.

With full support and trust Mr. Suneel Vatsyayan and Mrs. Pallavi Vatsyayan embarked a responsibility rather I should say a task which on first seems to be an impossible dream but later came out very beautifully and successfully. Since, the ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ event came to an end with 10 days long extravaganza.

My next work got assigned to me even before I could breathe a bit from the strain and pressure. Suneel sir’s words ‘you are going to teach theatre to the children of bal bhawan from tomorrow’ glorified my ears and mind. I, Bhishm Wahi, commenced a whole new journey from Indirapuram to Chhatarpur.

My topic was very clear in my mind none other than the drug abuse issue and with grinned effort, a script of 3 pages (not too large) was prepared. With the help of Sulekha Bhargava (teacher at bal bhawan) 15 children enrolled for the participation in the play and hence the journey began. On my day 1 visit to bal-bhawan, I was pretty excited and enthralled to teach something which I liked doing the most, acting.

From voice modulation to grooming their personality, past month has seen a tremendous change among children. Games, exercise and icebreaker became a daily routine to warm-up the children as later they performed and rehearsed in full of energy. The nostalgia made me to forget all my sorrows and pains and completely involved my soul and mind with children.
And, the day came when I had to bid a good-bye to such a wonderful place (bal bhawan) situated in the midst of lush greenery with peace all around and to enjoy a beautiful sunset daily in the evening. As they say, every action has equal reaction.

So, Suneel sir didn’t let my effort go into nothing and gave me a hope to think bigger in life. With all his grace, support and encouragement, I successfully recorded my 15
minute of play with the help of Indian Institute of Mass Communication at their studio and now waiting for its radio broadcast very soon through ‘Apna Radio’ a community radio run by IIMC itself.
With this,my jorney with Nada India Foundation finally came to halt and I would only say it has given much more to me than I would have imagined in my life. In future, it would be my pleasure to work with such a brilliant personality Mr. Suneel Vatsyayan with a hope of LEARN, UNLEARN AND RE-LEARN.

Breaking the Cycle: Helping Friends Quit Weed by Siya Nada volunteer from Shimla

"Empowering Youth: Building Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions through Community Profiling,"  Siya Chohan student of UPES, Dehradoon  and Nada Volunteer    In our late teens, while my friends turned to smoking weed, I stood firm in my decision to abstain. Despite their respect for my choice, I couldn't ignore the toll weed was taking on their health and behavior. Concerned by their growing lethargy and detachment, I took a stand and voiced my worries. Thankfully, they listened, and together, we sought out healthier alternatives like hiking and sports to replace their weed habit. Through open conversations and professional support, we navigated a challenging journey marked by relapses and doubts, but ultimately, persistence led to their recovery. This experience taught me the value of compassion and perseverance in helping others overcome addiction, and it deepened my commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.  Reflecting on today's Youth Forum, led by Mr. Shabab A...
