Pehchaan Campaign on Drug and Alcohol prevention was kicked off from Mandi village South Delhi^^

The world is next to nothing if people don’t stand up for themselves and live in peace and harmony’.



Soon, the world will celebrate ‘International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking’ and to mark it as an eternal day, many organizations and social-activist communities are joining hands to raise  their voice against drug use. One of the prominent organizations founded by Mr. Suneel Vatsyayan, NADA INDIA FOUNDATION in collaboration with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is leaving no stone unturned to make it an historic day with an initiative to aware people by organizing workshops for drug awareness, also using the medium of art and theatre to convey a beautiful social message among the village communities. Today, in the scorching heat where one fears to step outside of his/her comfort zone, NADA INDIA FOUNDATION took a brave step to organize an awareness campaign at Bhim Basti near the Mandi Village of south district. The workshop was followed by a free medical check-up by Dr.Ajay Vats for the under-privileged in and around the Mandi Village and later a ‘Drug prevention theatrical performance’ was enjoyed by the people from Deep Theatre group, Jahangirpuri, Delhi, a network member of Nada India. People gathered in large to witness something new and experiencing for the first time in their village, the theatrical performance in which they presented the ill-effect of taking tobacco, drugs & alcohol through the medium of dancing and holding a performance to aware the different kinds of drug taking habit like smoking, chewing tobacco and most importantly alcohol. During the performance, an interactive session took place to make it more fun among the audience which also boosts the confidence of the group. It left a deep impact over the mind and soul of village people who was before unaware of the drug abuse and its causes. And they showed immense support as an audience and marked it as a huge success. Free medicines were given to the patients who took out their time to participate in the health check-up and hand bills were distributed among the patients and their families.At the end, after all excitement and enthusiastic support, Mr. Suneel Vatsyayan and Pehchaan campaign in-charge Ms. V. Pallavi greeted and thanked the audience for making their initiative a great success.

Ban alcohol advertising and products: NGOs

India News By IANS, New Delhi: A new report by a group of NGOs Tuesday highlighted the ill-effects of advertising and marketing of alcohol on young people, and proposed a comprehensive ban on all kinds of marketing strategies that seek to portray drinking as normal.
