The reason I have taken this initiative is that I am troubled by a growing perception that young people need to be “handled” or “managed”. That we are incapable of making rational, informed decisions for ourselves. I cannot deny that we may be at least partially to blame for this; I have participated in campaigns encouraging young people to vote for the past two years, and the response has generally been quite disheartening. However, that is a discussion for another time. As members of a democratic society, it is our right, and sometimes our duty to stand up and ask if our government is doing the right thing.

MR. IMRAN KHAN….One hell of an educated illiterate you are ….don’t know or don’t even wanna knw about the intent of law being made…. Mr. Khan be noted that the laws are not only meant of uber cool people like you…..given wheels and enuff cash to spill around in metros….. more than 70% of Indian population is rural…..The existence of law can’t be challenged jss becoz people are not following it…May be you are not aware about the practical situations…no one nd I mean no one in my drinking experience has ever arrested me for an underage drinking when I was an underage drinker as per law…It is because I live in Delhi which has got so called “hip” culture…got enuff cash to burn for booze….I’m also a culprit but I do the things my way nd do not publicize the unnecessary frustration towards the LAW, the way U are doing….
U keep on trying but no parent wants their child to drink…In Indian community drinking has always been frowned upon & so will it be in future….What about rural areas wherein people die of drinking adulterated liquor…..In small towns young children are so addicted to these things that they start suffering from severe health problems from day 1…Law applies all over India…go to rural areas nd dare to get their support for your opinion….I swear u’ll be thrashed…Practically, nobody’s freedom to drink is hindered by this law…In all metro bars liquor is served to people above 18 but below 26…They don’t ask ur age…So, every 1 is happy THE DRINKERS, THE BAR OWNERS & THE LAW MAKERS…U r unnecessary creating a havoc….
Law like these will always be there as they are made to protect the poorest nd most backward…Laws like these come into force when there is a need to protect the interests of victims who suffer due to negligent, rash, drunken driving…especially the teenagers of metro cities spoiled by some of their parents..
Now I came across an article wherein you have written that it is only your opinion….
REALITY CHECK… you want to share your view/opinion about drinking age law jst be4 the time your movie is releasing…a real DK Bose you are…DUDE if you were so concerned about the law then you would have done it silently…1000nds of PIL are filed by social activists like MC Mehta etc who work as silent activists…U cum up at a press conference nd get an article published in newspaper….What a cheap publicity stunt….

You r angry wid a law, curbing drinking age but happy wid your song “Bhag D.K. Bose”…which u pretend that is in no way immoral nd unethical…but ask each nd every parent of a teenager bout it?? You’ll get the answer….get a poll done for it lyk you people get it done for your so called “STANDS FOR CIVIL SOCIETY”
GROW UP MAN GROW UP…..I believe young generation is mature enuff to understand your cheap stunts…don’t challenge the laws which you don’t understand…further stop giving examples of other countries…the Indian scenario is totally different…If U still lyk American laws then go nd enjoy them over there…but no… U will never do that coz no 1 knows u there…India is quite a cakewalk with a family background to flaunt RIGHT!!… ….U do what u wanna do….but do it on your own…don’t do beckoning with young generation nd misguide them….
Imran Khan’s Statement:
I would like to state for the record that I do NOT endorse the consumption of alcohol. Alcohol can damage health, ruin careers and tear families apart if it is abused. I know this because I have seen it firsthand with friends and family. Nor am I motivated by selfish reasons; I am 28 years old, and free to consume alcohol if I choose. I am raising this debate on a personal level, not as a star. This is why I have chosen not to speak about it on a platform while promoting my film.
